Eyelash extensions are individual lengths of silk, mink, or synthetic fibre. Eyelash extensions are applied to individual lashes using a safe adhesive specially formulated to avoid irritation to the eye or skin, or damage to the natural lash. Extensions come in a range of different lengths, thicknesses and curls to suit all types of natural lashes and give you exactly the look you want.
Eyelash extensions are applied individually to each lash, unlike “strip lashes” which are applied as a strip over your natural lashes, or “cluster lashes” which are glued on in a clump rather than individually. As a result individual eyelash extensions provide by far the most realistic and gorgeous look.
A new set of lashes can take up to two hours to design and apply. Infills will take less time, dependent on the number required.
Your own natural lashes have a life cycle of 6-8 weeks, depending on your hair growth cycle, so eyelash extensions will always grow out within this period. Infills are advised every few weeks to ensure your lashes don’t become patchy.
Yes – many people love their eyelash extensions so much that they prefer to continue wearing them indefinitely. This is achieved by having infills every two to three weeks to remove any straggly lashes and apply extensions to new lashes.
There is no discomfort in wearing eyelash extensions – if you imagine having the long natural lashes you’ve always dreamed of, this is how lash extensions feel!
Yes – the extended lashes will fall out in line with your natural hair growth cycle, however if you prefer you can have them removed by your technician.
Absolutely! Eyelash extensions are fine for swimming and lying in the sun. Your eyes will look great and give the impression of wearing mascara at all times!
Yes - I have never turned away a client because their lashes are not suitable for extensions. Often the less impressive your natural lashes, the more difference extensions can make!
You can typically wear your normal makeup with eyelash extensions. However certain brands of mascara and eyeliner contain a high oil content – it is best to avoid these as the oil dissolves the adhesive quicker and your eyelash extensions may not last as long as they otherwise would. For the same reason eye makeup should be removed with a gentle, oil free makeup remover, ideally using lint-free pads.
You can continue to use your normal skincare products however try to avoid getting oil-based products on the lashes as this may reduce the life of the adhesive.
There is no need to wear mascara as your extended lashes will already look far better than natural mascaraed lashes. However if you can still wear mascara if you choose – it is best to avoid oily mascaras as these can dissolve the adhesive, shortening the life of your eyelash extensions.
Yes, there is no issue for contact lens wearers. However I do advise that you remove contact lenses while the extensions are being applied unless your lenses are safe to sleep in.
